Moving objects with the power of the mind is all well and good, but with telekinetic gloves, it’s even better!
Especially because that’s how you’ll be saving the world in Q.U.B.E Director’s Cut. You play as Rob Yescombe, a supersoldier faced with the weighty task of saving humanity by travelling to the heart of a giant alien spaceship. All in a day’s work!
You wake up to be greeted by the soothing tones of Commander Novak’s voice. She will kindly explain that you are deep inside a giant puzzle, and it’s heading straight for Earth! Inside this labyrinth of little white cubes, you’ll come across even more cubes. These are red, blue, green or yellow, and can only be interacted with using your amazing telekinetic gloves. And because each glove has a different way to manipulate these strange coloured cubes, you are free to move them around as you see fit!
Developed by Toxic Games, Q.U.B.E Director’s Cut is a 3D puzzle game featuring clean, cubist design and fiendish enigmas. Playable by gamers of any level, the first-person gameplay is very straightforward: your telekinetic gloves let you interact with the coloured cubes (using the triggers on your controller) by simply pointing your sights at them.
The blue cubes act as a trampoline for you to bounce off; the red ones are columns that rise and fall; while the green cubes can be moved back to where they came from. As for the yellow cubes, they form stairways and will behave differently depending on which cube you target.
And that’s by no means all, and the end result is myriad ways to traverse the seven sections of this endless white ship. The most curious players will be rewarded with the discovery of secret rooms, but we’ll give you a clue: they are hidden behind white walls! And while the start of the game serves as a tutorial, the puzzles grow increasingly complex over the course of Q.U.B.E Director’s Cut. This time, your brilliant mind is humanity’s last hope!
