My Universe - Interior Designer

For fans of Changing Rooms who dream of making over their home: furniture, new wallpaper and flooring, smashing tiling, creating your own character... And all tailored to kids! Playing My Universe: Interior Designer, feels like the Sims, just for ages 7-11.

If you're familiar with the My Universe series, you'll already know that these are sim games for kids and fans of casual gamers. Interior Designer, though, bucks the trend and will also be a hit with plenty of adults who are into interior design.

It's a bit like the building and decorating parts of Sims, just without the risk of drowning your residents in the pool or locking them in the bathroom. You're just there to meet and even exceed your clients' expectations.

Fans of home renovation programmes on TV will love knocking down walls, changing wallpaper, and furnishing rooms.

We loved the story mode. You play as a young architect and you need to build your reputation to become the best in town. It's cute and really easy to play.

Our tip to help you on your way? Listen carefully to what your clients say during the briefing: there are always hidden clues about what they want. That way, you can unlock hidden objectives.

And here are two of them (but you didn't hear it from us):

• When Anissa is renovating her kitchen after accidentally burning it down, the hidden objective is to install a fire extinguisher because she’s very clumsy. This will prevent any further catastrophes.
• In the music room, the hidden objective is to add seven seats. When you’re speaking to Charlie, she mentions that she’d like her friends to be able to listen to her playing the drums.

Finding the rest is up to you!

As you get busy working, you'll unlock new content and new options to enhance your experience.

Then, you can admire your work in some before/after shots.

But our favourite bit was building the home of our dreams (apartment, studio, house... the choice is yours!). To do so, you'll need to switch between renovation and decoration modes. Once the plumbing and wiring is in, you'll need to choose your wall and floor coverings, the design and style of your new furniture, and decide where to put them (all in 3D). Then it's the same for the plants, curtains, and rugs. It's really creative and super easy to play.

While most My Universe games are for schoolkids, this one will be a hit with gamers aged 10-11 all the way up to... 77 and beyond!
