Asterix & Obelix - Those irreducible Gauls in video game format

The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders.

Asterix & Obelix are world famous, their adventures having been translated into more than 120 languages. Indeed, Asterix has been a hit ever since he was created in 1959.

He holds the record for the world's top-selling comic book (ahead even of Tintin), with 400 million copies sold, and he was the bestselling comic book of 2021, with Asterix and the Griffon, his 39th outing.

But did you know that our two favourite Gauls have also played the heroes in a whole host of video game adaptations?

The characters created by Uderzo and Goscigny have starred in around 45 video games on all kinds of devices, from arcade machines to home consoles, handhelds, and now even cloud gaming with Blacknut.

As far back as 1983 on the ATARI 2600, our oh-so-French hero with the winged helmet was keeping the first generation of gamers entertained. But purists will you that the best video game adaptation was the one released in 1992: a 2D title developed by Konami, available only on arcade machines. And there aren't any left!

Since then, it's the Asterix & Obelix XXL series that has come to be seen as the best adaptation of the two Gauls' adventures, with its dialogue that's full of gags and gameplay combining exploration and beat 'em all mechanics. And so it is that without further ado, we are proud to present here at Blacknut another 2D adaptation, but one that's truly faithful to the comics: Asterix & Obelix: Slap them all!

Of course, all these games are playable in co-op, so get stuck in with your kids or parents for a guaranteed blast, even without any magic potion!a!

The most faithful video game rendition of Uderzo’s comic book adventures. It’s as if the pages are coming to life before your very eyes, because in this game everything is drawn by hand. Packed with humour, this game will be a hit with kids and adults alike, and on top of all the brawling, you’ll also need to find some well-hidden secret areas. Not to mention the excellent two-player co-op.

While the third instalment is primarily about dishing out slaps, gratuitous violence won’t always be the best solution. Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 is also about puzzles and outlandish challenges, and you’ll need to prove your dexterity and wits to overcome certain obstacles. Fortunately, there’s a two-player co-op mode that makes the game, just like the potion, magic!
