Pete Pagassi, erstwhile tennis world champion, has fallen from grace due to his addiction to Explodz energy drinks. Fresh out of rehab, he decides to take revenge with the only weapon at his disposal: his trusty racket. The game is inspired by the Angry Birds series, with gameplay based on dexterity, observation, and brains. A fun game that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

You'll be playing as Pete Pagassi, a tennis pro who fell from grace due to an energy drink addiction, and who is now out for revenge. And to do it, he'll be launching tennis balls and cans (while they last) to clear the levels of enemies. Each shot needs to be meticulously lined up to maximise damage, just like in Angry Birds. Some enemies are equipped with shields or have special skills that demand a different approach. The less balls and cans you use, the higher score you'll earn, meaning more chances to win the crown that represents the highest level of victory.

Traps and other accessories can either block or enhance the effects of your balls. Ice, for example, stops your balls from bouncing, while pieces of metal, barrels, explosives, and tubes of balls can give you a boost. The position of the metal structures within the levels are often designed to create a predetermined track for your balls to bounce along.

But of course, if you fail to take out all of the enemies after using all of your balls, you'll need to start the level again.

We loved how easy it was to just pick up and play. The game is intuitive and accessible to gamers of any age. The levels are well-designed and provide a solid mix of challenge and fun. The funny references and the quirky story of Pete Pagassi himself bring a touch of humour that makes the game even more fun.

Our tip to help you on your way? To beat the more difficult levels, take the time to study the locations of your enemies and any obstacles. Use the walls to your advantage to get the most out of your bounce, and feel free to experiment with different angles and shot powers to find the best strategy. And remember that accuracy is key!

For example:

• Level 9: This level sees you facing six enemies. Two of them are on a platform in the middle of the level. Aim your ball at the head of the one on the right. The ball will bounce off and hit the other four enemies.

• Level 12: You need to take out ten enemies, with a group of three on a platform to the left. Aim for the enemy on the right of this group so that your ball bounces towards the other enemies, maximising your score.

Tennis in the Face contains just over 100 levels spread across a world designed like a metro map and split into six zones, each filled with different enemies. You need to complete a certain number of levels before you can unlock the next zone. Once you've done that, the new area opens up, gradually revealing the rest of the map.

A great little addictive game.
