You're the bouncer of the Green Door club, where every decision matters. Reject the unworthy of partying with clever retorts, explore a neon-lit city, and immerse yourself in the Berlin-like city's underground techno scene. The beat is pumping—are you in?

Surrounded by glowing neons, grimy streets and relentless techno beats, Techno Banter puts you in the shoes of Rainbow Road's most feared bouncer. Sharpen your wit, polish your one-liners and decide who deserves to party. Be warned: the stakes go far beyond a simple guest list.

Techno Banter - Crunching Koalas - The bouncer with the killer comeback

You play as Nil, a whippet-headed bouncer known for his razor-sharp comebacks, returning to the Green Door after a long hiatus. This ultra-exclusive club, directly inspired by Berlin's legendary Berghain, is the temple of underground techno. Your boss Gunthy, a greedy, tyrannical little toad, sets you a "party star" target every night. It is up to you to decide who gets in, who stays out, and to face the consequences.

We loved: The verbal duel mechanic, an absolute delight. When you reject an unworthy partygoer, they do not leave without a fight. A word battle ensues: six possible comebacks, only one correct answer, and a ticking clock. The tension is real, the humour sharp, and every verbal victory is deeply satisfying.

We liked: The utterly unique visual and audio world. Anthropomorphic characters (arrogant bears, muscular apes, bug-eyed eccentric artists), the flickering neons of Rainbow Road and the pulsing techno soundtrack build a quirky, addictive cyberpunk atmosphere. Hard to remain indifferent to so much personality.

Our highlight: The physical combat mini-games, tailor-made for each opponent. The pretentious artist challenges you to a staring contest, the asylum-escaped arsonist breathes fire you must dodge. The care taken by Dexai Arts to match each game mechanic to the character's personality is remarkable. You never tire of discovering what surprise awaits behind each rejection.

Our tip to help you: Before rejecting someone, always use the "Observe" skill to analyse the candidate's mood, style and vibe. Some profiles are obvious (arrogant gorilla, out!), but others are genuine traps: a very wealthy client can tank the party atmosphere. Manage your energy carefully by grabbing Sugar Shots from the vending machine on Rainbow Road, especially early in the night. A drained Nil cannot defend the door, and your score will collapse.

Who is this game for?
Techno Banter is aimed at players aged 12 and over looking for an original narrative game full of humour and strong visual identity. Fans of Papers, Please or quirky indie games will be won over. The playtime (around 6 hours) makes it a dense, well-paced experience, perfect for sessions of over 30 minutes. Difficulty is medium, but some verbal duels and mini-games will demand quick reflexes and focus.
