SteamWorld Dig is back! Dig deep, gain riches and unearth the terrors of the underworld in this platform mining adventure influenced by classic Metroidvania style games.
SteamWorld Dig 2 begins after mysterious earthquakes strike an old mining town. You play as a new steambot heroine who explores underground to find Rusty and uncover the threat beneath the surface.
The game builds on the first episode's mining exploration with a more open Metroidvania structure. The Hookshot crosses large gaps, the Jet Engine improves cave traversal and upgrades open routes gradually. Enemies, traps, secrets and treasure encourage you to revisit earlier areas.
We loved: The freedom of movement. The Hookshot and Jet Engine make exploration more vertical and varied.
We liked: Ability-based progression. Every tool opens routes that previously seemed impossible.
Our favorite part: The search for Rusty. Exploration advances a story rather than only filling an inventory.
Our tip to help you: Return to previous areas after every important upgrade. Use the Hookshot to check large gaps and the Jet Engine to explore open caves. As in the first game, plan your return before filling your bag with ore.
