You play as Sprout, a brave little onion on a mission to save the sweet kingdom from the clutches of the evil Candy King. We loved: The original soundtrack, which is absolutely excellent. The tracks composed specifically for the game cover a wide musical spectrum, electro, rock, offbeat jazz, chiptune... with stunning production quality. Every level has its own musical identity, making progression as surprising as it is addictive. You will find yourself humming the songs long after putting the controller down.
We liked: The ever-present humour and boss writing. Every major enemy is a delightful caricature (the cupcake general, the giant candy floss, the karate bonbon...) with its own personality, hilarious one-liners and unique gameplay pattern. The game's absurd, offbeat tone recalls the best Japanese indie games, and the wacky narrative stays coherent from start to finish.
Our highlight: The additional modes that multiply replayability many times over. Once the campaign is done, Rhythm Sprout invites you to remix levels with modifiers (double speed, reversed notes, no visual cues...) for virtually endless challenges. It is a goldmine for players who want to compete on global leaderboards and push their personal limits.
Our tip to help you: Do not try to memorise patterns purely visually: listen to the music. Notes are synced with the soundtrack, and your ear is often faster than your eyes at anticipating sequences. If you are stuck on a boss, replay the level in "demo" mode to observe patterns without the pressure of scoring, then go back to face it armed with your new knowledge.
