Welcome to the delicious world of Pizza Possum, an arcade game where you play as a famished possum. The aim of the game? To eat as much food as you can without getting caught, of course! It's not beneath you to pickpocket passers-by or rob market stalls blind, and the only danger is getting caught by a dog! The single map is a pretty Mediterranean island divided into neighbourhoods. You'll start at the bottom and your aim is to reach the top where you can gobble up the massive pizza.
There's food everywhere, and there are even special dishes like a giant tomato and mozzarella salad to make any gourmet's mouth water. A progress bar fills up as you eat, opening up portals to new neighbourhoods.
The animations and sound effects are fantastic, and create a warm atmosphere with plenty of naughty laughs along the way as your possum gives in to excess.
We liked the simplified controls: you use the right stick to move, and then a button to eat or use the items you pick up. Anyone can get the hang of it, from age 6 to 80!
The learning curve is well-calibrated, with a very easy start and a gradual increase in difficulty. But be careful not to get caught by a doggy. If you do, your score is reset to zero. In addition to the different kinds of dogs to spice things up, you'll also unlock useful items like a barrier to stop dogs, and soda pop to give you a speed boost.
Our favourite part? The welcoming atmosphere: the cute graphics and your possum's sniggering bring a joyful touch to the whole experience.
Our tip to help you on your way? Use your smoke bombs wisely! They come in very handy for escaping guard dogs. When you're in danger, set one off to create a diversion. It means that you will temporarily disappear from the radar of all those nasty dogs, giving you precious time to make your escape or hide in a bush.
