Well look who it is... It's Inspector Gadget... And something's not quite right... Cue theme tune! This game immerses you in the iconic '80s cartoon series! The world's goofiest and luckiest inspector is back once again to foil the plans of MAD in this family party game with its 16 minigames and single-player mode that will take you on a tour of Metro City, uncovering its secrets.
In an era when video games are vying to outdo each other in terms of difficulty and complexity, it's refreshing to come across a game that brings back the simple pleasures of playing as a family. Inspector Gadget MAD Time Party, developed by French studio Smart Tale Games, is the perfect choice for just that, and perfectly adapted to a younger audience and their parents who are feeling nostalgic about their childhood cartoons.
This is a party game made up of 16 minigames that are as simple as they are fun. From dexterity challenges where you'll need to fly the Gadgetcopter around obstacles, to memory games where you'll need to find the Inspector's misplaced gadgets, each minigame provides a fun and accessible experience for your budding inspectors.
We liked the simplicity of the minigames, playable for ages 6+.
What makes Inspector Gadget MAD Time Party stand out is its deliberate decision to make the gaming experience as fun as possible for kids. The minigames are designed to be fun above all else, with simple mechanics and clear objectives.
Our favourite part? The ability to automatically move on to the next stage even if you are losing. It makes sure that the game stays fun and removes any sense of frustration that might put younger players off.
In the "Save Brain" minigame, for example, you'll be playing as Inspector Gadget as he tries to save his faithful canine companion from the clutches of MAD agents. While it's perfectly possible to beat the challenge, even though the movements aren't quite as precise as you might like, the ability to skip to the next stage means that kids never get stuck and can keep enjoying the adventure.
Then, in Gadgetmobile Getaway, players will need to race through the streets avoiding traps set by Dr Claw's henchmen. While it might appear simple, the fun lies in the fluid gameplay and the sense of achievement when you manage a successful getaway.
Our tip to help you on your way? Take full advantage of the four-player co-op mode. By playing as a team, players can combine skills make short work of the challenges.
To cap it all off, the soundtrack was composed by Tanis Chalopin, daughter of Inspector Gadget's creator, Jean Chalopin! Keep it in the family!
