Like any decent demon Cid spends his nights performing all kind of evil deeds to the peaceful people of Darkestville. Little does he know that his old arch enemy is about to change his life forever.
Cid is a demon like no other: meticulous in his nasty pranks, loyal to his reputation as the local terror. Every evening, he terrorises the peaceful villagers of Darkestville, until the day his greatest enemy arrives in town and turns everything upside down.
Darkestville Castle, developed by Epic Llama Games and published by ESDigital Games, is a gothic and humorous point & click with sharp writing and polished hand-drawn environments.
We loved: The character of Cid himself. The ultimate antihero, simultaneously smug, clumsy and endearing. His exchanges with other characters are regularly hilarious.
We liked: The visual quality of the settings. Every frame is a genuine gothic tableau, dense with details.
Our highlight: The puzzles. Logical and satisfying, never frustrating. The satisfaction of solving a complex puzzle without ever feeling unfairly stuck is a remarkable achievement.
Our tip: Inspect everything and talk to everyone before trying to solve a puzzle. Dialogues are packed with subtle clues.
