Cities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation. The game introduces new game play elements to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city whilst expanding on some well-established tropes of the city building experience.

Before there was SimCity, today there is Cities: Skylines!

That says it all. Here’s what we do best in terms of city-builder, those smart games where you’re invited to build a city and manage it from A to Z, while it grows and ensures the happiness of its inhabitants.

Cities: Skylines has become the benchmark for this complete and incredibly engaging genre, where you can spend hundreds of hours without ever getting bored. The possibilities are endless, and the game unleashes creativity like no other.

The construction animations and camera movements make visiting your city a real pleasure as it grows slowly and improves with your choices. The game is so realistic that a user even used it to plan the transportation system of a real city!

A few quick tips to get you started:

  • Start by laying out your road network with future bottlenecks in mind to avoid them. Installing a large roundabout isn’t an option if you want to start smoothly. Gravel roads are cheap to service your residential areas.
  • Build your residential area away from the industrial zone — but not too far! Residents should be able to reach it without making too long trips. Take advantage of this to place shopping centers halfway so they can do their errands without detours.
  • Another very important point: water. Make sure to create your city very close to a river to avoid paying too much piping costs at the start. Place the discharge conduit behind the pumping one depending on the current so that residents do not drink polluted water.
  • Finally, remember to power all your sectors with electricity!

As a bonus, we’re offering the 33 DLC for free. Not just hundreds of hours, but thousands, and make your city the largest and most beautiful in the world!

On the programme: airports, amusement parks, the creation of rail lines and cable cars, traffic management, nighttime city life (including in prisons) and more.

As a fun fact, among the 84 million metropolises created by Cities: Skylines players around the world, the population of these virtual cities is more than 60 times higher than the Earth's 7 billion people. You just have to add a few more millions.
