Chess Knights: Shinobi
Publisher: Minimol Games
A great game for learning to play chess without pulling your hair out! There’s a tutorial that will get you up to speed with how the knight, bishop, and rook move across the board, and then you’ll be ready to take on the 50 unique levels.
Chess Knights: Shinobi turns the knight's movement into a turn-based infiltration puzzle. You control a ninja in feudal Japan and must cross board-like levels, capture enemies and reach the exit without creating a dangerous position.
The chess foundation is expanded with objectives, traps and enemies that behave in different ways. Every move matters because the next square must be both safe and useful. Hand-crafted levels reward studying the board before acting and finding an efficient sequence.
We loved: The simplicity of the movement rule. One familiar chess move creates many different puzzle situations.
We liked: The mix of stealth and logic. The challenge is not only reaching a square, it is deciding when capturing an enemy will leave the route safe.
Our favorite part: The bonus levels. They extend the search and often ask you to rethink a solution from another angle.
Our tip to help you: Before every move, check the squares available on the following turn. Treat enemies as possible stepping stones, but do not capture the first target automatically. A strong route keeps an exit open and avoids leaving you without a safe move.
