Don’t miss this masterpiece! What initially seems like a straightforward platformer soon has you immersed in the world of a colourful little ball who turns out to be a real action-RPG hero! It can jump, suck up objects like Kirby, interact with the environment, and even explore four open worlds filled with absurd humour. A fantastic game!
Here, we've got a little masterpiece that is well worth your time! Bang-On Balls: Chronicles is more than just another action/adventure-platformer; it's a polished product in every way. You'll be playing as a little ball careening around a movie studio that’s packed with hilarious quests and exciting challenges.
One of the first things that struck us about Bang-On Balls: Chronicles is the quality of the graphics. Each world is vibrant, richly detailed, and alive. The developers at Exit Plan Games have clearly given a lot of love and attention to creating these immersive environments. Whether you're rolling through Viking landscapes or exploring Second World War movie sets, every level is a feast for the eyes.
We liked how you can customise your character in the colours of your favourite country. So, are you feeling more British, French, or Japanese? The wide array of options is impressive, with some countries even coming in a few different flavours. You can, for example, proudly wear the red, white, and green of the Italian flag, or dress up as a Roman citizen. Fun, right?
We loved the focus on collectables. From geisha hairstyles to lemon costumes, there are hundreds of skins waiting to be either found in the environment, purchased with in-game currency, or collected from special enemies. And the accessories aren't just cosmetic. Many of give you special abilities or boost your stats.
Try out different outfits to find the one that best matches your playstyle.
In addition to the skins, you can also collect movie reels to upgrade the movie sets themselves.
As for the gameplay, it's as intuitive as it is addictive. You control a ball that can sprint, strike, defend itself with a shield, double-jump, flatten to the ground, and suck up items around you. You also have a weapon that lets you attack enemies at a distance. The main gameplay is constantly switching up with plenty of surprises. You might, for example, be turned into a wheel for some missions, or sink boats by destroying their masts.
Our favourite part? The open-world dimension. You'll be playing within a vast game environment, and you might be off to do battle with a boss when a mysterious cave catches your eye and leads you off on whole new adventure. The game doesn't follow a particular path, and from the start you'll be free to adventure across the different movie sets, from Vikings to Japan, each offering a vast, detailed world to explore. While there are objectives like finding and defeating a boss, the real joy of the game lies in exploration and discovering hidden secrets.
Our advice to help you on your way? Keep an eye out for secret passages: the developers have hidden away plenty of secret passages and hidden areas. It's always worth rolling against the walls and checking every nook and cranny. Sometimes, the most valuable items can be found behind parts of the environment or secret doors.
Whether you're playing alone or in local multiplayer, this polished game is a hit with every kind of gamer, and promises an unforgettable cinematic adventure. If you like platform games and you're looking for something new and exciting, we couldn't recommend this hilarious, spellbinding world enough!
