Sun-drenched alleyways, marble columns shattered by an ancient curse and creatures drawn from Greek and Roman legend: Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is an epic action RPG that transports you to a visually stunning fantasy world. Developed by Acme Gamestudio, it blends narrative depth, fluid combat and generous exploration into an adventure of over 30 hours.

You play as Hilda, a bold young warrior who sets out to find her father, who has vanished inside the mysterious city of Aphes. This once-thriving city is now overrun by legions of enemies and struck by a curse that condemns its inhabitants to wander endlessly. Armed with six different weapon types — swords, spears, wands, bracelets, shield and dagger — Hilda must face dozens of unique enemies and mythic bosses inspired by the Greco-Roman pantheon to uncover the secret of the curse.

We loved: The freedom and depth of the combat system. With six combinable weapon types, every player can build their own playstyle: aggressive melee, ranged combos, defensive builds with perfect dodge... The possibilities are plentiful and the game constantly encourages experimentation. Combat is snappy, readable and deeply satisfying.

We liked: The visual and artistic world, remarkably coherent and rich. The city of Aphes is architecturally sumptuous, with districts of distinct character — Roman forums, bathhouses, hanging gardens, underground quarters — and a colour palette that oscillates between melancholic beauty and quiet menace. Think a more accessible and brighter take on the Soulslike formula.

Our highlight: The character writing and narrative richness. Asterigos is not a game that merely sends you running from one boss to the next: every NPC has a story, every area has a history and the main plot holds genuine surprises. The relationship between Hilda and the people of Aphes is touching and well-developed, giving the final revelations real emotional weight.

Our tip to help you: Do not invest all your resources in a single weapon type from the start. Certain enemies and bosses have specific weaknesses that make some combinations far more effective than others. Keep several loadouts active and do not hesitate to switch mid-combat if the situation demands it. Mastering the perfect dodge (which briefly slows time) is also crucial: practise it from the very first fights to integrate it into your playstyle.

Who is this game for?
Asterigos is aimed at players aged 12 and over who enjoy action RPGs, mythology and rich lore. Its medium difficulty makes it more accessible than traditional Soulslikes while still offering a genuine challenge for genre fans. With 33 hours of content in 10 to 30-minute sessions, it is a long and dense adventure, ideal for players who love losing themselves in a world.
