Naoe is a kunoichi (female ninja): agile, stealthy, deadly in shadow. Yasuke is a historical African samurai: powerful, direct, fearsome in close combat. You switch freely between them according to your preferred approach. Their complementarity is the design's genius: some missions suit both playstyles, others clearly favour one or the other.
We loved: The art direction. Shadows' feudal Japan is strikingly beautiful: rain-swept rice fields, snow-covered temples, bamboo forests, illuminated castles. Every season changes the world's appearance, creating radically different atmospheres.
We liked: The dual protagonist system. Naoe and Yasuke are not two skins of the same character. Distinct skill trees, different movement sets, radically opposing approaches to the same situations. Alternating between them constantly renews the gameplay.
Our highlight: The Shinobi Hideout system. Your base evolves with your progress, attracts allies and informants, and becomes the narrative and strategic hub of your adventure.
Our tip to help you: Invest early in Naoe's parkour abilities. Her vertical mobility is unmatched and gives access to information and advantageous positions unavailable to Yasuke. The Naoe-infiltration / Yasuke-combat combination is the most effective strategy on complex missions.
