Our tip to help you: Balance your population before building warships. The temptation of rapid military expansion is real, but an economically fragile colony cannot sustain a prolonged conflict. Stabilise your food and consumer goods supply chains, grow your population from settlers to citizens, before investing in your fleet and fortifications. Also make sure every production building has complete road access: an isolated warehouse does not distribute its goods.
