This is a fairly straightforward mystery game that makes a perfect intro to the genre. And you’ll even get to wear the moustache of the most famous Belgian detective. We loved how you could play as a family to solve the puzzles together.

The ABC Murders is a crime novel by Agatha Christie, published on 6 January 1936. In the novel, the famous Belgian detective is accompanied by Captain Hastings, a British investigator. The game is an excellent adaptation of the novel, in which you’ll play as Hercule Poirot, the character so full of himself that not even his author could stand him.

Poirot’s appearance is inspired by David Suchet (who played him in the television series), while the game’s graphics are all made using cel shading, giving the game a comic book feel. And it’s all accompanied by a soundtrack that perfectly fits the 1930s ambience: you’ll really feel like you’re in an interactive episode of Poirot as he hunts a serial killer.

Once you’ve gathered your clues, suspects, and other information, you’ll need to use your wits to piece together two or even three observations made by Poirot or one of the witnesses he questioned.

The story is interesting and the murderer isn’t the obvious suspect. It’s very easy to grasp and the puzzles can be challenging.

It might even inspire you to go digging through your old books to re-read Death on the Nile or Murder on the Orient Express, both still timeless classics.
