A Plague Tale: Innocence follows Amicia and her younger brother Hugo through fourteenth-century France, a land devastated by plague. To escape the Inquisition, soldiers and enormous swarms of rats, the two children must learn to move together through a world that has become deeply hostile.
This narrative adventure alternates stealth, environmental puzzles, traversal and action set pieces. Light repels the rats, while Amicia's sling can distract enemies, interact with objects and deal with certain threats. Crafting alchemical ammunition adds another layer of preparation and lets players adapt their equipment to each situation.
We loved: The relationship between Amicia and Hugo. Progress is not only about surviving danger, it is also about watching the two characters learn to trust one another.
We liked: The use of light. Torches, fires and movable sources turn every rat-filled area into a navigation puzzle.
Our favorite part: The atmosphere. Medieval landscapes are beautiful, but rats, corpses and war create a powerful contrast that gives the story its identity.
Our tip to help you: Before entering an infested area, identify the next light source and a possible retreat route. Use distractions to redirect soldiers and do not assume every encounter requires a fight. Stealth and preparation are often safer than direct confrontation.
