An extremely addictive game set in a vertical world that sends you off on an exciting adventure where gathering resources and upgrading your equipment are key to your survival. With its double gameplay, alternating between exploring mines and combat above ground, this is a great game where you'll really feel the time pressure! A real gem inspired by Dome Keeper!
Inspired by hit game Dome Keeper, Wall World is a roguelike survival and exploration game that sees you playing as a miner on a vertical adventure. You'll be controlling a giant robospider as you explore a towering rockface, extracting resources and fighting waves of enemies.
Our favourite part? Without a doubt, discovering a verdant clearing at the very back of a cave. The scene, with trees framing a waterfall where you can glimpse an abandoned robospider, is a real breath of fresh air. It marks a beautiful contrast with the often arid and sterile environment outside on the wall, and it’s a magical moment that lets you see the game world in a whole new light, hinting at deeper mysteries yet to discover. It is then that you really start to see just how deep and fleshed out Wall World really is.
We liked the gameplay that alternates between exploration and combat. Exploring the mines to extract resources and upgrade your equipment is both strategic and stimulating. As for the combat, it gets more exciting as soon as you unlock new weapons and skills (and movement speed, in particular).
Our advice to help you on your way? To get the most out of Wall World, we recommend focusing on your robospider's movement speed and mining capabilities. These upgrades will enable to collect more resources more quickly, giving your effectiveness a boost from the outset. We'd also advise unlocking extra weapons as soon as you can, because they make the combat much more dynamic and strategic. Last but not least, remember to carefully plan your mining sessions around the waves of enemies so that you can optimise your time and resources.
What really sets Wall World apart from the other roguelikes, though, is its unique vertical setting and its pixel art aesthetic. Each section of the wall has its own challenges and surprises in store, so the exploration never gets boring, and exploring a giant rockface and discovering its different biomes adds an extra dimension to the gameplay.
Best be clear: the tension bever lets up in Wall World, especially when you leave your robospider behind to go mining. Knowing that you've only got a limited amount of time before the next wave of enemies adds a layer of stress and excitement. This dynamic is ramped up even further in the larger mines, where you can have a long and hazardous trip back to your robospider. Managing your time and resources is key, especially when the formidable "leviathan" is coming.
A great, addictive game, as long as you can keep up the pace.
