A beautiful platform game where you play as a weird astronaut on a planet where every cloud might conceal a dangerous alien species. The game's hero is bestowed with a unique ability: to control the day/night cycle and move the sun through the sky. Just know that gravity can be weaker out there in space, so take care with your jumps! Fantastic!
You play as a vulnerable astronaut who has just woken up, alone and disoriented, on a strange planet. In the game, you'll be exploring a world that's breathtakingly beautiful, but not without its dangers. You'll be making your way through a series of environments and atmospheres, with the constant thrill of exploration, as well as a palpable sense of the potential for danger that lies in unknown areas.
We loved the beautiful, varied environments: caves filled with illuminous minerals, the ruins of an ancient alien temple, desert sandstorms that threaten to bury you, and luxurious vegetation stretching as far as the eye can see...
And to cap it all off, the adventure is accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack that makes the experience all the more spellbinding.
At the start of the game, you know absolutely nothing about your character, nor the planet on which the action takes place. Some scraps of a plot will be revealed as you progress through the game (if you spot the puzzles), but you'll have to come up with your own theories about what is really going on.
In addition to jumping and solving block-pushing puzzles to climb up to higher areas, we liked the ability to manipulate the day/night cycle to make plants grow so that they can be used as platforms or as cover. At night, you can also move parts of the environment, and animal behaviour also changes.
Over the course of your quest, you'll also need to keep an eye out for the robots who will attack you on sight. If you die, you'll be sent back to the last checkpoint, but fortunately there are quite a few of them. As an added bonus, the objects you moved before you died will be right where you left them.
The game is spread across ten chapters.
To help you on your way, we'll just let you know that in the third and sixth levels you travel to a parallel universe which you can explore and discover artifacts.
The game's playtime depends on how you approach it. The puzzles might not be that complex, but some of them will still have you scratching your head. There's no loading time between levels and no cutscenes... no interruptions to the story. Allow a dozen or so hours to complete the game and reveal all of the plot.
A beautiful game, and a work of art according to some. Dive right in if you're a fan of platform games. It's yet another chance to prove that there are some genuinely beautiful games out there, and that there's more to platform gaming than Mario and Rayman!
