My Universe - Green Adventure : Farmer Friends
The most complete game in the My Universe series. This time, it's for kids aged 10+ and adults who enjoy relaxing farm management games. Compost, selling organic produce, construction, it's got it all. You can even build habitats to attract animals you can then play minigames with. Intelligent and environmentally conscious. We loved it!
My Universe is a series of games aimed at kids that has already given us the opportunity to run a vet clinic and a school, and even raise a child. This latest instalment, Green Adventure, invites us to build and manage our very own farm. It's the perfect introduction to this kind of farm management sim for kids aged 10+, but this is a game that also has plenty to keep the adults occupied.
The adventure begins when you inherit a ruined farm.
Once you've played around with a few options to create your avatar, you'll be working to keep the farm afloat before watching it grow and flourish.
At the start of the game, you're given a few basic tools and some seeds, and you'll need to repair things around the farm and grow your crops until they're ready to be harvested and sold to the local shop. Then you'll be satisfying orders (which are much more lucrative) to get your hands on the money you need to improve the farm and buy more seeds.
We loved the game world that reminded us of Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon, just much more straightforward and accessible.
As you progress through the game, you can build habitats to attract animals to the farm, animals that you can then play minigames with.
We loved hitting buttons to collect eggs, and the Guitar Hero version of milking cows, and more besides.
Our advice? Use worms to prepare the soil for planting, then make a compost heap where you can make fertiliser that gets your crops growing bigger and faster.
You'll gradually unlock different seeds that you can use to expand your empire, eventually making your own yoghurts and preserves.
It's a fantastic game as long as you remember that it's deliberately small-scale, and it's never going to be as long as Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley. For a kids' game, though, it's remarkably well made and has enough to keep plenty of adults amused!
The most complete game in the My Universe series.
